A person who has returned from the dead…

A person who has returned from the dead…

New Music: Revenant

Revenant
Matthew Chilelli

It’s funny what inspires a song sometimes. It can be a word, an image, a feeling…

With this piece, it was the word “revenant” which means “a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead.”

I imagined a sweeping, otherworldly journey that begins rather peacefully before kicking into high gear, concluding with, well, the final return.

That initial inspiration is just a spark, of course. It has to land on enough fuel to ignite your passion for a project. As I’ve spent more time composing professionally, I’ve found that the fuel for that spark has grown more abundant, and it’s easier for a simple idea - even just a word - to burn bright.

I hope you enjoy this epic musical journey.
