New Music: Scriptnotes Chernobyl

Scriptnotes Chernobyl
Matthew Chilelli

As I’ve been watching Craig Mazin’s excellent HBO series, Chernobyl, I’ve been especially taken by the score for the show. Hildur Guðnadóttir wrote music as eerie and chilling as the images we’re presented with. I thought it would be interesting to take her radioactive style (she used only sounds recorded inside a nuclear power plant) and apply it to John and Craig’s Scriptnotes theme.

The theme for the Scriptnotes podcast, as you might know, is pretty…chipper.

So it was fun to take those five notes and turn them into something that sounds like, well, a nuclear meltdown. If you haven’t checked out the show, do it. If you haven’t heard Hildur’s score, do it. But in the meantime, enjoy this twisted take on the Scriptnotes podcast theme.

P.S. Take a listen to other Scriptnotes themes I’ve created here.
